Preventive Dentistry

Liz and Jennie have a thorough routine to meet all your preventive needs. Starting with a review of your mouth with the intra oral camera, where the hygienist and patient can see everything including areas of concern.  Followed by necessary digital x-rays (which have less radiation than traditional x-rays), and periodontal screening where inflammation and pockets in the gums are noted and discussed. Next is the Oral Cancer Screening, the most important part of the visit.  Feeling and looking for changes in the soft tissues is essential to overall health.  Then the cleaning, also called a prophylaxis or “prophy” is started with scaling, polishing and fluoride if necessary. For people who experience sensitivity during the prophy part, we have a few treatments we can use to minimize your gum or tooth discomfort.

Restorative Services

Restorative services include fillings, of bonding material, amalgam (silver), or gold, inlays or onlays, crowns, bridges, partial dentures and dentures. If a filing is necessary, Dr. Deschenes discussed the materials available and he explains which is best for the situation of your tooth.  Larger reconstruct on the chewing surface may be necessary, where and inlay or onlay, or crown would be used. These are made at a lab where harder materials are used to create a stronger, longer lasting repair.  Also made at a lab is a bridge which is one way to repair and replace teeth. Partial dentures and full dentures are dentures.  They are available an option for many patients, but the process of making a denture has not changed in ages. To really make your denture experience life altering, Dr. Deschenes suggests anchoring them to a pair of implants.  This procedure has improved to quality of life for many of our patients. The most beautiful result can be created in all cases.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr. Deschenes can help you create a beautiful smile you’ve always wanted thru bonding, bleaching, Invisalign®, or porcelain veneers. If a radiant smile is something you would like to achieve, we offer a range of cosmetic services.  He can enhance the brightness of your teeth, adjust spaces and change your smile.

Sleep Disorders

Is snoring a problem in your household?  Are you still tired after a full night’s sleep?  If you answered yes, then we recommend a sleep study.  Snoring is a precursor to something more serious called Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  Both are similar respiratory sleep disorders.  If you are diagnosed with mild or moderate OSA, an oral appliance may be the treatment of choice.  For severe cases, a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device could be recommended.  Once a sleep study is completed, discuss your results with your physician and dentist to come up with the best solution to meet your needs.

Implants Restorations

An Implant is a metal root that is inserted into a jawbone by a surgeon.  After a tooth or teeth are removed, the implant is screwed into a hole in the jaw. The bone is allowed to grow around and fuse with the implant for up to 6 months. Once the surgeon feels healing is complete, Dr. Deschenes can then finish the treatment with a custom post that is a supporting structure to sustain pressure.  This post sticks up out of the implant and connects to the final restoration, which is a crown, bridge or a full set of teeth.  The results are beautiful and natural and made a high quality material making a fantastic smile.

Root Canals

Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp (soft tissue inside your teeth containing blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue) becomes inflamed or diseased. During root canal treatment, Dr. Deschenes removes the diseased pulp. The pulp chamber and root canal(s) of the tooth are then cleaned and sealed. Root canaI treatment has improved tremendously over the years.  If you’ve heard a horrifying story, those days are gone.  Dr. Deschenes root canal therapy is as easyas a filling.  if the infected pulp is not removed, pain and swelling can result, and your tooth may have to be removed. Left untreated a patient could develop life-threatening conditions involving hospitalization. If you are experiencing intense tooth pain that prevents you from enjoying daily activities check with us to confirm whether or not a root canal may be a necessary treatment.

Bruxism Devices

Patients with symptoms include morning joint tenderness, headaches, clicking in the joint, pain, and occlusal wear may be grinding their teeth.  For these patients, Dr. Deschenes makes an occlusal bite guard.  It is a hard acrylic appliance designed on stone casts from both upper and lower impressions and bite registration.  If left untreated, bruxism can lead to excessive occlusal wear and/or cervical abfraction and continued symptoms
